Edvard Munch
Edvard Munch is recognized as one of the pioneers of the modern Expressionist painting movement. He is known for his distinctive style and iconic works, including “The Scream.” Initially, the Norwegian artist and printmaker enrolled in a technical school to study engineering but soon realized his passion for the arts and transferred to the Royal School of Art and Design.
Munch was a naturally talented painter who channeled his inner emotions into his art, producing powerful works that had deep psychological underpinnings. Munch’s major series, “The Frieze of Life,” depicts deeply-felt themes such as love, anxiety, jealousy, and betrayal. And despite Nazi-occupied Europe banning his work, his legacy survived.
