Gary Neville – Lancashire, £8 million
Former England and Manchester United football player Gary Neville originally planned to use his 8,000-square-foot plot in Lancashire to build an £8-million futuristic Teletubbies-based home. The proposed design was believed to feature a wonderland partially submerged in the countryside with an artistically cut landscape that would serve as futuristic, open ceilings.
After facing backlash from the local community and neighbors over the outlandish plan, which included a 130-foot turbine, Neville finally yielded in 2017. He later put the land up for sale at £650k after scrapping the project altogether. In January 2021, Neville was appointed as the head coach of David Beckham’s football club Inter Miami.
