John F. Kennedy & Jackie Kennedy – 1953
As many of us already know, John F. Kennedy was the 35th POTUS, who was unfortunately assassinated not even three years after coming into power. His wife, Jackie Kennedy, became as popular as him, mostly because of her beauty and glamour and her devotion to preserving history.
On September 12, 1953, the day of her nuptials, Jackie donned an Ann Lowe ball gown although, it wasn’t the original design she’d dreamt of. Since a flood had damaged her original design only days before her ceremony, she went with the one pictured above, made with 50 yards of ivory silk taffeta. She also borrowed her grandmother’s lace veil.
