Pop Smoke – Home Invasion Shooting
Born Bashar Barakah Jackson, Pop Smoke lost his life to a home invasion incident in February 2020. Four hooded men broke into the Hollywood Hills mansion that Jackon was renting from Teddi Mellencamp (The Real Housewives). The LAPD concluded that his death wasn’t gang-related but as a result of a home invasion gone wrong.
He had a series of posthumous releases that peaked on the charts, including Dior off of his unfinished debut album. Rapper 50 Cent decided to finish producing Jackson’s album, and it achieved commercial success upon its release in July 2020.
