Canadian Eskimo Dog – Extremely Energetic and Alert
Also known as the Inuit dog, The Canadian Eskimo Dog is a 4000-year old breed that helped the Thule civilization migrate from Mongolia to the Eastern Arctic in under three years. Threatened with extinction, they’re a scarce breed that was once used for transportation. Each puppy can cost around $1,200.
The abuse of their strength as sled dogs and the slaughter of thousands in the 1950s and 1960s severely impacted their numbers. Owners need to assert their role as leaders and will be challenged. While friendly with people, Canadian Eskimo Dogs don’t do well with other dogs and animals. They’re known to be chewers and love digging, thanks to having so much energy.
