Karl Marx
In the 19th century, Karl Marx, a political economist, philosopher, and revolutionary, developed a scientific foundation for socialism. While pursuing studies in history and philosophy, he became involved in revolutionary activities, abandoning a potential career as an assistant professor of philosophy. His critical theories about society, economics, and politics have had an enormous influence on subsequent intellectual, economic, and political history.
Marx’s legacy is characterized by his analysis of historical events and his arguments for radical action to bring about social and economic change. He predicted that capitalism would lead to its self-destruction and replacement by a new system known as the socialist mode of production.
