Grigori Efimovich Rasputin
Grigori Rasputin was a Russian faith healer who gained notoriety for his visions and prophecies. He soon became a trusted ally of Tsar Nicholas II and his wife, Tsarina Alexandra, providing medical care for their only son, Prince Alexei, on multiple occasions. This earned him a prominent position in Russian politics.
Rasputin’s influence over the Tsar grew so strong that he was able to hire and fire ministers at will. However, his power drew the attention of Prince Yusupov, another royal family member, who planned and executed his assassination in 1916. Rasputin’s scandalous reputation helped discredit the Tsarist government and was instrumental in the downfall of the House of Romanov.
