Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna
Born in 1901, Grand Duchess Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, the last emperor of Imperial Russia, met a tragic end in 1918. She died at the hands of the Bolshevik secret police, who executed her alongside her father and other family members. However, for some time, there were no bodies to confirm her demise.
The mystery surrounding her fate led to persistent rumors circulating of her possible escape after her death, but scientific analysis, including DNA testing, confirmed that the remains found in 2007 are those of the imperial family, proving that all four grand duchesses were killed. Before that, many people had claimed to be her.
