Operation Northwoods: The Rejected Plan To Take Down Cuba
Since Cuba fell to communists in the late ‘50s, the United States has had a tumultuous relationship with the Caribbean nation. The declassification of the documents related to Operation Northwoods highlighted that America had a rather unethical plan to start a war with Cuba.
Proposed by military leaders in the ‘60s, Operation Northwoods included plans to kill innocent people and commit terrorist attacks on American land. All that to convince the public to support a war with Cuba and oust its leader Fidel Castro. Fortunately, this plan was scrapped, and no civilian lives were lost.
