Russell Brand left home at age 16. He was accepted by the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in 1991, but he was expelled for what would turn out to be a long battle with addiction. It would provide the setting for his hugely successful memoir: My Booky Wook.
He seems to have gotten his addiction under control, as Brand has appeared in dozens of movies and television shows, even receiving several awards, including three British Comedy Awards. He has also hosted two podcasts: The Russell Brand Podcast and Under the Skin with Russell Brand.
