Charles Grassley (Born 1933) – President Pro Tempore Emeritus of the United States Senate
There has to be a secret to re-election in politics, and it seems Charles Grassley is privy to it. He’s the senior United States senator from Iowa and has held that seat since 1981. That’s not all; he is also the president pro tempore emeritus of the United States Senate.
Before his long career in the Senate, Grassley served in the House of Representatives. His four decades in the Senate haven’t just gone by. During that time, he has chaired the Senate Aging Committee, Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Senate Narcotics Committee. In 2021, Grassley co-introduced the American Innovation and Choice Online Act.
