John Cornyn (Born in 1952) – Senior United States Senator
How John Cornyn has managed to remain the senior United States senator for Texas for two decades should be studied. He has held that office since 2002. However, during that time, he also held other roles.
He was the Republican Senate majority whip for the 114th and 115th Congresses and, in 2009, began serving as chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee up until 2013. Long before then, he was elected Attorney General of Texas in 1998. In 2021, he voted against creating an independent commission to investigate the 2021 United States Capitol attack.
