Another bombshell Markle dropped during their interview with Winfrey was the royal family’s fears about how dark Archie’s skin might turn out. The concerns surrounding the baby’s skin color were relayed to Prince Harry by still-unnamed members of the monarchy. He clarified that the comments didn’t come from his grandparents, though.

Still, the family faced backlash from those who watched the interview. Bringing up the topic may be considered racist as Markle is biracial with an African-American mother. In June 2020, Meghan said that she was spurred by George Floyd’s death to speak publicly on the matter, describing racism in America as “absolutely devastating.”
