Hidden Lakes
Among the natural formations, Antarctica is hiding underneath its behemoth ice covering is several large lakes, with the number reaching close to 200 water masses. Considering that the entire continent is covered in frozen water, the idea below it is numerous lakes and rivers is pretty intriguing.
The largest lake located 3.7 kilometers deep below the ice is Lake Vostok, a freshwater lake. We wonder whether there’s life in those lakes, given the cold conditions in the area. It would be interesting to find out more about the vast water masses that are literally underwater.
