A Lounge For First-Class Passengers
The most expensive ticket bought to board the Titanic cost Charlotte Drake Cardeza, the daughter of a Philadelphia magnate, $2,560. That converts to about $61,000 in today’s currency, an entire year’s paycheck for some. With that price tag, we don’t doubt first-class passengers like her had high expectations.
And we bet they weren’t disappointed as they had exclusive access to such stylish spaces as this palatial lounge. Here, Cardeza could easily mingle with other wealthy travelers like American businessman Benjamin Guggenheim and John Jacob Astor IV, whose family owned the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
