Ray Meagher (78) – Roma, Queensland
Raymond Francis Meagher was such a keen sportsman during his younger years that it’s a wonder he didn’t pursue that passion professionally. So even though he represented his school in rugby and played at the state level, he couldn’t make a career out of it.
Today, Meagher is known for his successes in film and television. He joined the cast of “Home and Away” as Alf Stewart in 1988, and in 2022 he was still going strong, making it a good 35 years since he began playing the role. Clearly, his title as the longest-serving performer in Australian television is well deserved.
