Peter Philip Smith (83) – Victoria, Australia
Anyone familiar with Pete Smith would recognize him more by his voice than his facial appearance. After all, he’s best known for his work as a voice-over artist on radio and television. He started out at ABC Radio in Melbourne. But he laid the foundation for his success when he joined GTV-9 Melbourne as an announcer in 1964.
Smith spent 21 years on the nationally screened quiz show “Sale of the Century.” And though he didn’t pursue a full-on acting career, he’s appeared briefly in films like “Crackerjack” and “Bad Eggs.” Since retiring in 2019, Smith’s duties as GTV9 Ambassador have kept him busy.
