Ian Alexander “Molly” Meldrum (79) – Orbost, Victoria
Ian Molly Meldrum is a renowned actor, television personality, and record producer. And while his dedication to a singular aesthetic—love the hat—is nothing short of admirable, his reputation as a pioneer of Australian pop music is also noteworthy.
Meldrum has had his finger on the pulse of the Australian music scene since the ’60s. And he’s the first non-artist to be inducted unto the ARIA Hall of Fame. He received that honor in 2014 along with his show, “Countdown.” Meldrum’s talent as a record producer is best appreciated by Russel Morris, Ronnie burns, Colleen Hewett, and other musical artists he’s had the pleasure of collaborating with.
