Wonder what it takes to become the most successful beach volleyball player? For Misty May-Treanor, what it took was 112 championship wins in domestic and international competitions. By the end of her professional career in 2012, she was a three-time Olympic gold medalist.
May-Treanor’s success becomes even more admirable when you know the obstacles she overcame to achieve what she did. Of course, her 2010 autobiography, “Digging Deep in Volleyball and Life,” provides all the details. In 2017, she was inducted into the Southern California Indoor Hall of Fame. As of 2021, May-Treanor was the director of volleyball operations at Long Beach College.
