The Da Vinci Code (2006)
The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown’s bestselling 2003 novel, has amassed somewhat of a cult following since its publication. The story, however, is highly frowned upon by the Catholic Church for its offensiveness towards Christianity.
In 2006, director Ron Howard took over the task of bringing the gripping storyline to the cinema, featuring a Harvard professor who follows a trail of lies and deceit to uncover a secret Christian society. Deemed by several nations as blasphemous and offensive, the film was banned in countries like Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Jordan, and Iran.
