Gina Mastrogiacomo – Myocarditis
Martin Scorsese’s 1990 crime film Goodfellas remains a classic, and it’s Gina Mastrogiacomo’s best-known credit. Portraying Ray Liotta’s mistress, she was lauded for her realistic and passionate delivery. She also featured in several TV shows, including NYPD Blue, Seinfeld, and The X-Files.
Hailing from Great Neck, New York, Mastrogiacomo moved to California to pursue her acting career. That’s where she tragically passed away in May 2001 at the age of 39. The cause of her death was Myocarditis, a disease that is characterized by the swelling of the heart’s myocardium muscle.
