Albert Hammond established himself in the music industry with several pieces. His songs earned him several nominations as well as an Emmy award in 1998. “When I Need You,” a song written by Hammond and Carole Sager, reached number one on both the UK Singles chart along with the Billboard Hot 100.
His work as a singer, songwriter, and record producer peaked in the ’70s and ’80s. They also earned him the Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy for his outstanding song collection. Albert Hammond Jr., Hammond’s son, followed in his father’s footsteps, having released albums such as 2020’s “The New Abnormal.”
