After being the comedy partner of James Young for a while, he assumed a hiatus and went to serve in the British Army for seven years. In 1977, he won the ITV talent show “New Faces,” the highest mark ever given to a comedian. His fans have been enjoying his screen presence for over four decades. He is the father of the Olivier Award-nominated theatre actress Josie Walker.
