Penny Downie is an Australian actress who made a big name for herself on the screens and stages of the United Kingdom. She started in Australian TV with roles in productions called Bellbird, The Box, Prisoner, and The Sullivans. Then she moved to the UK in the ’80s, and she blew up.
There she had roles in shows like Kavanagh QC, Spooks, and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, among others. She also ruled on the stage as an associate of the Royal Shakespeare Company and starred in stage productions like Richard III and The Winter’s Tale. In 2021 she returned to her role as Ellen in the TV series Back.
