Billy Connolly, 78
Billy Connolly’s official qualification is that of a welder, specifically a boilermaker in the shipyards of Glasgow. But he wanted more, so he dropped all of that and pursued a career as a folk musician. It took a few evolutions before he found his true calling as a comedian, but by the early ’70s, he did just that.
As a comedian, he performed at several festivals, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest art festival in the world. Besides comedy, he also acted with roles in films like Indecent Proposal, Pocahontas, and The Boondock Saints. He retired from comedy in 2018 and currently practices art.
