Jimi Hendrix, The Woodstock Head Turner
Jimi Hendrix experienced mainstream success in only four years. Yet, he has become one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century and one of the most influential electric guitarists of popular music. As the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame described it, he is arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.
With all these, it is safe to assume that Hendrix was among the most anticipated performers at Woodstock. It was a blessing to the crowd who heard his music and band, the Gypsy Sun & Rainbows. One of the most memorable performances they executed was a rendition of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
