Gerald Ford & Betty Bloomer Warren – 1948
It’s not every day that you get to see women wearing a dark wedding dress on their big day, especially not in the ’40s when things were a lot more traditional. However, the wife of the late president Gerald Ford, Elizabeth Bloomer, a.k.a Betty Ford, did just that.
Betty walked down the aisle wearing a dark satin outfit along with a lace-draped hat and even carried a bouquet full of dark flowers. We guess the common belief of dark colors being unlucky is a myth because the two remained married for 58 years until Gerald’s passing in 2006. Betty was popular for being a politically active First Lady.
