The Reason Royals Can’t Give Fans Autographs
Royals can be quite generous to their admirers, allowing for handshakes, small talk, and even the occasional selfie. Autographs, however, are completely off the table. According to the Daily Express, this is a way to prevent their signatures from being forged. There was one time the rule was broken, though.
In 2010, Prince Charles reportedly signed an autograph for a flood victim, penning “Charles 2010” on a piece of paper. Although this appears to be a one-time thing, a quick search on eBay shows some people selling cards, a sweater, and a photo signed by the Prince of Wales.
