While the British royal family technically doesn’t govern the UK anymore, their influence and popularity on the British people and, by extent, the rest of the world remain significant to this day. People are still interested in almost everything they do, tuning into their weddings and public appearances.
But while their lives have been very much in the spotlight, there’s a lot of things they’d rather not let their subjects find out. From weird morning rituals to failed exams to exclusive privileges, here are the secrets the royal family doesn’t want you to know.
Want To Get Married? The Queen Must Give Her Blessing First
When you’re royalty, love is not the only prerequisite before you can get married. The Royal Marriages Act gives the monarch, Queen Elizabeth, the right to veto any wedding within the family that might diminish the status of The Firm. Fortunately, a change in this law limits its application to the first six family members in the line of succession.
Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry are all already married. That means the three Cambridge children are the only ones remaining who are required to get the queen’s blessing for their future nuptials.
