Chard Hayward (73) – Swansea, Wales
Chard Hayward did a lot of dabbling before finally settling on a career in acting. First, he moved to Australia to join the Army. But after becoming a commissioned officer at 19, Hayward realized he wanted more out of life. So he worked as an actuary, then a caterer, before finally joining the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
Hayward began his career by taking on roles in Australian feature films and drama series. But he’s best known for his long-running performance as Dudley Butterfield in the ’70s soap opera “Number 96.” He also appeared in the 2010 sports drama “Play On.”
